The Saccadometer Plus is the basic version, performing a 10 deg step task with random direction and foreperiod. Up to some 10,000 saccades can be stored, with the measured parameters (latency and velocity) displayed on the control box, and all data (including the profile of each individual saccade, with 1 msec resolution) can be downloaded to a computer via the optic fibre / USB link. Using the buttons on the control box, manual responses can be measured as well as saccadic. The parameters of the protocols can be altered using the menu system built in to the control unit.

Saccadometer Advanced adds to the functionality of the the Saccadometer Plus: it has an extra, central, green laser, in addition to the three red ones, allowing a wide range of more complex saccadic tasks such as anti-saccades, countermanding. go/no-go, cuing, precedence, etc. Data can optionally be stored on a removable memory card.

Saccadometer Research is a fully programmable version, with five red laser targets. It allows experiments of any degree of complexity to be designed, using the PC software provided, and downloaded to the control unit using its memory card. In this way new protocols can be tested and refined in a flexible manner.

The Saccadic Activity Recorder is intended for making records of a whol day, with 1 msec resolution. Thanks to its built-in microminiature electronic gyroscope, head rotaion in the horizontal plane is recorded as well as eye position. With this device, one can monitor a subject's exploratory interaction with the natural environment over a prolonged period.

The Saccadometer MRI is an adaptation of the Advanced saccadometer for use during MRI investigations, at up to 7T. The sensor is made entirely of plastic, with optic fibre connections and an electromagnetic noise proof control unit, rendering the device interference-free for the MRI environment. The system is operated remotely from the MRI control room and can be used with all types of MRI scanners.

The Tapping Pad is a low profile twin sensor pad with zero activation force, providing a platform for testing motor performance. The pad allows both mon and bimanual tapping tasks to be studied. The task-modifying overlays allow different kinds of sensorimotoro learning tests to be performed. The tapping pad is interchangeable with the Saccadometer Advanced sensor, and special software provides the capability of analysing appropriate aspects of the subject's performance.

Prices

Note that the prices given are ex VAT (VAT is not normally chargeable on equipment used for medical research) and include a carrying case, all manuals and software, and delivery within the UK but not outside it. Very substantial discounts (25% or more) can be negotiated if a device is to be used for non-commercial research. Versions of the saccadometer sensor specially adapted for children can be ordered on request. For use outdoors, or where it is not convenient to project stimuli, a version of the sensor with an LED stimulus visor instead of lasers is avaliable.
